Our second grade students leveled up their design skills with Tinkercad, turning digital models into custom 3D-printed name tags. Watching their creations go from a computer screen to a physical object is always the best part of hands-on learning.
It has been an action-packed two weeks in our Principles of Information Technology class! 💻⚡
Last Thursday, after diving deep into computer systems and Local Area Networks (LANs), our students got to see IT in action. Huge thanks to Mr. Matt, our District Director of Technology, for taking the class on an exclusive tour of our district server rooms and campus network switches! Seeing the hardware that keeps our school connected brought our classroom lessons to life in a whole new way. 🌐⚙️
The excitement didn't stop there. Tuesday, the class had a virtual meeting with Scott Ford, the creator of our IT curriculum! He laid down an incredible challenge for our students: not only to become the first group at Red Lick to earn their CompTIA Tech+ certifications, but—to his knowledge—the very first middle school class in all of Texas to pull it off! 🏆🚀 Our students are inspired, motivated, and ready to make history. Kindergarten wrapped up our Five Senses Unit with a popcorn celebration. What a fun way to review all we’ve learned! We had lots of smiles, great observations and of course POPCORN! 🍿
Last week, second grade students enjoyed exploring place value using place value disks. We can compose, compare, and order numbers up to 1,200! 💯

Red Lick Baseball Claims District Championship with Support from Texas A&M–Texarkana
Huge congratulations to our Red Lick Middle School Baseball team for bringing home the District Championship trophy on Monday! The winning momentum actually started last Thursday, October 1st, when the Texas A&M University–Texarkana baseball team paid our Mustangs a special visit! The Eagles spent time talking with our players about sportsmanship and the mental toughness it takes to succeed on and off the field. They wrapped up the afternoon in the best way possible by sharing pizza and facing off in a friendly game of wiffle ball!
Fast forward to championship game day on Monday, October 5th, and our friends from TAMUT took their support to the next level. The Eagles packed the stands, cheering loud as the Mustangs fought their way to victory! A massive THANK YOU to TAMUT Baseball for being incredible role models, and congratulations again to our District Champions! We are so proud of you, Mustangs! Tryouts were held and the teams are in place. We are excited to announce our eSports teams. Our Fortnite teams are Brock Troxell and Finn Wadkins, Sebastian Chester and Cannon Hines, and Asher and Kaynen Smith. Our Rocket League duos are Brock Troxell and Liam Whitley, Carter Fugitt and Rylan Marvel, and Cannon Haycox and Max Gilliam. Our Mario Kart Team consists of Cooper Frazier, Carter Fugitt, Micah Lollar, Rylan Marvel, and Cooper Talley. Our chess team is Finn Taylor, Preston Felipe, Micah Lollar, and Kaynen Smith. Our Minecraft Build team are the power builders Jack Lavender and Adelyn Scheid. Our season has started and Finn Taylor crushed his competition in his chess match. The power duo of Brock Troxell and Liam Whitley took their Rocket League win. Our Mario Kart team members completed their first races and crushed their times. Our Minecraft team is working hard on their builds.

Mr. Rankins’ 5th Grade Science students put Double Stuf and Mega Stuf Oreos to the test—and the results are in!
Through hands-on investigation and data analysis, students found that Double Stuf Oreos have about 2x the filling mass of a regular Oreo, while Mega Stuf has about 3x the filling mass!

This past Friday, third-grade students explored STEM principles and computational thinking using Cubelets.
Because each block contains its own microprocessor and pre-programmed software, students gain an intuitive understanding of inputs, processing, and outputs through real-time physical assembly.

Turning screen time into real computer science skills in technology class! Students are using Osmo Coding Duo to code Awbie and Mo to complete challenges to rescue the hoppets! The characters interact with the levels differently; for instance, Awbie can jump over obstacles and gaps, while Mo can create bridges or block hazards. Don't worry hoppets; students are coding Awbie and Mo to the rescue!
Math time just got an upgrade! Our first graders are diving deep into numbers using Osmo on the iPad in technology class. Every time they pop numbered bubbles with correct answers, they earn colorful fish and coral to build their very own virtual aquariums. Learning math has never been this swimmingly fun!
