The Mustangs baseball team traveled to North Lamar last night to face off against the North Lamar Panthers and the Chapel Hill Red Devils. Here are the results:
Game 1
North Lamar 6 Red Lick 4
The Mustangs fell in the first game of the night to the North Lamar Panthers by a final score of 6-4. The Mustangs fought back from a 5-0 deficit in the 1st inning to make it a competitive game in the end. Lawson Brainerd led the Mustangs with 2 hits, along with Jeffery Ives, Jude McKeever, and Luke Wasson adding a hit a piece. Lucas Collins pitched the final 2 innings of the game, striking out 3 batters and pitched great in his first outing of the season.
Game 2
Red Lick 7 Chapel Hill 0
The Mustangs came out on top in the final game of the night by a final score of 7-0. Luke Wasson pitched a complete game shutout, striking 3 batters out and competed through a first inning jam to limit no runs being scored. Wasson led the Mustangs at the plate with 2 hits, with Lucas Collins adding an RBI and Jude McKeever and Jeffery Ives adding hits. Stone Cauley, Daxton Fowler, Josiah Robinson, and Ethan Kessler all added runs during the contest and made key defensive plays for the Mustangs.
The Mustangs now have a season record of 6-2-2 with their final games of the season coming up next Monday at Spring Lake Park. First game is scheduled for 4pm vs. Chapel Hill and the second game will be at 6:30pm vs. North Lamar.
