What is the National Junior Honor Society?
The National Junior Honor Society is an organization that gives recognition to exceptional students at Red Lick Middle School. Students who are chosen for membership have illustrated scholarship, leadership, citizenship, and character.
When are students selected?
Students are evaluated in the spring of the seventh grade (upon completion of the third nine weeks). An informational meeting will be held, and invitations will be sent home for students meeting the academic guidelines. Students must have no disciplinary referrals within the selection year.
How are students selected?
The first standard that must be met is scholarship. To be considered for membership, students must have a cumulative average of 90.0 (core classes). Students that satisfy this requirement will receive a letter invitation.
After invitations are sent out, all new members will be inducted by way of the spring NJHS induction ceremony. Upon entering NJHS, students are required to maintain the 90% average in core classes, participate in the required two service projects within NJHS chapter, and choose and participate in one individual service project that reflects his or her particular talents and interests.
This year’s induction ceremony will be Thursday, April 5th at 6:00 pm.
